Debbie’s Dream Foundation
About Project
Debbie’s Dream Foundation is an organization dedicated to funding stomach cancer research. During this project, the organization, very sadly lost their Founder, Debbie. The project suddenly became even more special to execute.
I began this project with a new color palate. Working with their existing lavender logo, I loved the idea of having a complimentary yellow as a call to action color, making it really pop and grab a users attention.
Telling their survivor’s stories was a profound priority to their organizations success so I made sure a user could easily navigate to these stories from the home page or search for any information they may need.
The organization also, so significantly, offered mentorships for survivors navigating this disease. So, inline with donation – requesting a mentor was a ranking call to action.
When it comes to the average viewer of this website, not only do you want to cater to their donors, but also individuals who were just broken the life-changing news, stomach cancer. Collecting resources and support becomes crucial to this particular stressful time in someone’s life. This news can be devastating to receive and I couldn’t imagine the overwhelming emotions that may come to these individuals and their family. For this reason, offering an ease-of-use website that could at best, help elevate some of this stress influenced many of the user experience choices. These choices are reflected in the resource mega-menu, the custom above-the-fold search bar, and directory footer.
I was so pleased with the outcome of this site and so happy to take some weight off of the foundation with some UX problem solving!
