About Project

Virginia Press wanted a clean and classy update to their original online presence. This included a new logo design, a refreshed red color for their color palate and an updated website with an ease-of-use page builder. It was my role to execute all of these updates.

I started this project with their new logo, testing new fonts that reflected the honorable content VPA produced on a regular basis. I worked with one of their content director, Bill, to find a logo that communicated their trustworthy production and we landed on a simple yet classy rectangular logo mark with a serif and sans-serif font choice. I loved this font combination as it echoed the history of print and also the transition to modern, web publication.

Along side the creation of the new logo, I began my work on wireframes for the new website design. I wanted to mirror the logo and the block styles of a newspaper – rectangular and neat asymmetry.

The content director was so pleased with my customer service and the outcome of the website, he made special requests for my services even after the launch of the website! And while I had been promoted to be our corporate web designer, I couldn’t help myself and still love to chat about website solutions with Bill.

Update: Bill unfortunately left the organization and the website has since been updated outside of my hands. I’m glad I took screenshots of the original!
